Data Dogs - Evidence Based Dog Training

Data Driven Training

Hello and welcome to Data Dogs! I am William Flower, an engineer and data scientist and I use data about your dog’s behavior to create you a custom training program and support you every step of the way right in your home or local park. No travel, no classes of people, just you me and the dog.

Using data allows us as owners to fulfill our ethical obligation to find the least intrusive and effective intervention possible, not only because a minimally intrusive intervention is less likely to create problematic side effects and therefore be more effective in the long run, but also, more basically, out of respect for the autonomy, dignity and rights of the learner.

My training focuses on holistically teaching and appreciating real-life, practical canine skills and using those skill in everyday situations, so that a dog is a well-behaved member of a household and a welcome part of society.

Data provides a technically sound plan that is designed to make problem behavior irrelevant, inefficient, and ineffective while creating an alternative behavior that provides the same, or more reinforcement.

If you have questions you can send me a chat or contact me by phone or email.

Training Approach

As your trainer, it is my responsibility to create an effective and efficient behavior change plan that supports your training goals and help make them real. With problem behaviors the best first step is for me to simply spend time with your companion and change their physical and social environment and allow them to learn new skills that make the problem less likely to occur.

Next, based on our observations you will be guided through a series of questions on your companion’s behavior. With your results and goals I generate a custom dashboard that will pinpoint problem behaviors and keep you progressing.

Have multiple other caregiver’s in your companion’s life? Don’t worry, I can combine multiple surveys to create a composite of everyone’s observations and compare individual results.

While resolving problem behavior we also create new and useful behaviors that will improve the quality of your everyday life and relationship.

Practical Training Framework

C.L.A.S.S provides dog owners, regardless of skill-level, the opportunities to develop their dogs’ real-life skills. Most pet owners want to include their dogs fully in their lives, which is easier when the dogs are given boundaries and skills with real-life relevance.

C.L.A.S.S shows dog owners how to teach these skill using effective, reward-based methods, and how to teach skill with reliability. Reward-based training methods minimize the use of punishment and are fun for both owner and dog! As a result of training, there is an decrease in the behavior issues since dogs more acceptable outlets for their energy. Also, with its three levels C.L.A.S.S offers a roadmap for pet owners and companions to continue training far beyond basic skills, and to maintain those skills.
